Blog 12. One Year!

Oh hey I wrote this 2 months ago and forgot to 'publish' it.

“To get the full value of joy you must have someone to divide it with."

 Mark Twain

Everyone keeps asking us how the first year of marriage has been and if it's as hard as everyone says.
Honestly, this has been the best year of my life. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being the easiest, it has been a 1. Here's why:
I think there are things that make life and marriage harder and fortunately none of those things have plagued us this year. We haven't had to move, had financial difficulties (Thank you Dave Ramsey for teaching me how to budget), had a baby, lost our jobs... Oh wait, That last one definitely happened to me. I was laid off the day we got back from our honeymoon and that was probably the worst point throughout the past year, but we rested easy knowing we would indeed get through that. Grad school has its stresses for sure, but having a supporting husband and family is enabling me to see the light at the end of that tunnel. This year has been joyous and looking back I wouldn't have done anything differently. I am savoring the sweetness because I know this coming year holds many challenges of its own.
I am so blessed to have married the man I did. He eats bland or burnt food on a weekly basis without complaining. He does the dishes when I am in class. He takes our energetic dog for super long runs. He puts up with me. Most importantly, he loves me. I cannot wait to see what the next 70  years have in store.

  1. I remember asking you how the first year was. I think this next year might come with challenges (hello to moving!) but you guys work very well together and Brendan is good at staying out of your way when you are taking control. :)
