Blog 12. One Year!

Oh hey I wrote this 2 months ago and forgot to 'publish' it.

“To get the full value of joy you must have someone to divide it with."

 Mark Twain

Everyone keeps asking us how the first year of marriage has been and if it's as hard as everyone says.
Honestly, this has been the best year of my life. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being the easiest, it has been a 1. Here's why:
I think there are things that make life and marriage harder and fortunately none of those things have plagued us this year. We haven't had to move, had financial difficulties (Thank you Dave Ramsey for teaching me how to budget), had a baby, lost our jobs... Oh wait, That last one definitely happened to me. I was laid off the day we got back from our honeymoon and that was probably the worst point throughout the past year, but we rested easy knowing we would indeed get through that. Grad school has its stresses for sure, but having a supporting husband and family is enabling me to see the light at the end of that tunnel. This year has been joyous and looking back I wouldn't have done anything differently. I am savoring the sweetness because I know this coming year holds many challenges of its own.
I am so blessed to have married the man I did. He eats bland or burnt food on a weekly basis without complaining. He does the dishes when I am in class. He takes our energetic dog for super long runs. He puts up with me. Most importantly, he loves me. I cannot wait to see what the next 70  years have in store.

Blog 11? I Don't Blog Enough.

... I feel like when people have kids or are pregnant they have way more to blog about. Or maybe when people aren't in grad school and working full time they can blog? OR I am just a bad bad blogger.

Since it's October I decided I would update everyone on my New Years Resolution, which has gone surprisingly better than any resolution in the history of me. My resolution was to use my crock pot once a week. This summer in my crazy nursing home scenario I failed at using my crock pot or cooking anything other than frozen pizzas really. But before and after the summer I have been crocking 2-3 times a month which I would say is as close to once a week as I could hope for. I'll take it.
Husband just celebrated the big 2-6! We went to a Dynamo soccer game in Houston to celebrate.

We also took a stroll to the beach in Galveston. Parker loved it!

Blog 10. Old Albums, New Art.

The wall behind our living room TV is decorated with 15 album covers. Collecting them with husband was way fun but they smell old, as did our hands after digging thru hundreds of albums. Now we have 15 records with and no record player. Anyone want some Dolly Parton or Stevie Wonder?
